Reasons to Book Cheap Algiers Flights

Algiers is the capital of Algeria in North Africa. It is scenically located on a bay of the Mediterranean Sea and has been, over the centuries, a major reception point of cultural and martial correspondences from the Tartars, Romans, French, and Spanish. The synergy of all these ruling aristocracies led the city to evolve into a remarkable bouquet of architecture and culinary arts.

Notre Dame d’Africa (or Our Lady of Africa)

Notre Dame d Afrique (Our Lady of Africa) is a Catholic basilica in Algiers, Algeria. This prolific example of Byzantine Revival architecture was inaugurated in 1872, after fourteen years of its meticulous construction. Central to its surreal grace are two eclectic elements, one architectural and one religious. The former is the picture-perfect setup of 46 stained glass windows that were installed in the 19th century in this basilica while the latter is an equalitarian inscription on the apse that reads ‘Notre Dame d Afrique priez pour nous et pour les Musulmans’ (that translates to ‘Our Lady of Africa, pray for us and for the Muslims’).

Casbah (or the Citadel)

Located close to Notre Dame d’Africa is Casbah, a temporal place based upon the ruins of an ancient Roman town called Icosium that was once built on a hill and sought the sea down the path. It has numerous three to five hundred year old masonries and mosques, like the iconic and ornately decorated 18th century Ketchaoua Mosque and the 16th century Mosque el Djedid. To make the picture more overwhelming, you can visit the peculiar mesh of labyrinthine lanes and houses that are a reminiscent of the glorious times that the city used to enjoy.

La Grande Poste d’Alger or La Grande Poste (or the Grand Post)

La Grande Poste is a masterpiece of the 20th century Neo-Moorish architecture in the Algerian capital. The building has a grand white façade and an elaborate interior that has an Arabic opulence. The central room inside plus its ceilings are indeed picturesque and are known for their grand stucco appearance and ornate decorations.
