National Museum of Beirut

Archaeological Museum of the American University of Beirut

Formed in 1868 AD, the Archaeological Museum of the American University of Beirut is the third oldest museum in the Middle East. It is home to a vast collection of prehistoric and historic artifacts. There’s a gallery displaying the evolution of pottery from the Bronze Age to the Roman era. Also of note, is a prehistoric collection of glass, pottery, coins, jewelry and seals. This museum has also excavated the remains of a 4000 year old fortification and 5000 year old remains of another building in the city.
