Reasons to Book Cheap Cairo Flights

Cairo is the capital and largest city of Egypt. It is one of the world’s oldest megacities and is best known for the two of the seven wonders of the ancient world-the Pyramid of Giza and the Sphinx. It is home to the oldest and largest film and music industries of the Arab world, and a clear consequence of the same is the Cairo International Film Festival.

Pyramids of Giza

Made of more than two million blocks of Tura limestone nearly 4000 years ago, the Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex situated near Cairo. It is known for its antiquity and its surgical-grade craftsmanship (the pyramid’s base has an error of only 58 millimeters in length). Close to it is located another marvel called the Sphinx that looks like a large human-headed lion carved from limestone rocks.

The Egyptian Museum

The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities or the Egyptian Museum is home to the most extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world. It has a permanent display of 120000 antique items that date back to 1550 BC. The star attraction here is The Gold Mask of King Tutankhamun (composed of 11 kilograms of solid gold), the mummy mask of an army general, and a collection of 2000 year old papyrus and coins.

Al-Azhar Mosque

Al-Azhar Mosque is one of the country’s oldest mosques, one of the world's oldest universities and the leading institution in the Middle East to learn Sunni theology and Sharia (Islamic Law). It was completed in 972 AD and has seen numerous additions to its primary structure by subsequent ruling dynasties, thus accounting for different architectural styles in its design.
