There is no doubt that air travel can do a number on the appearance and underlying health of your skin. A variety of factors can be blamed for your skin being dry and irritated after spending time on an airplane. The recirculated air in airplanes combines with the high altitude and UV radiation coming through the windows to strip the skin of its moisture. The stress that comes with travel can also contribute to breakouts and other skin issues.
This is why it is important to be proactive about taking care of your skin when traveling by air, whether you’re flying in a wintry January or February, or any other time of the year, for that matter. Here are a few tips to get you started.
Before Your Flight
Proper skin care while you’re traveling starts before you leave your house. Being intentional about hydrating in the days prior to your trip will go a long way in putting your skin in the best position to withstand the harsh elements in the air. Be sure to take a relaxing shower and undergo your typical skin care routine before leaving your home.
